This Sportsman's Bowie Knife is a true collectors item! This amazing Bowie Knife is sturdy and built to last. The blade is finely crafted and extends down the full length of the handle giving it durability and a solid feel. This knife wasn't just made to look good, it was made to do work. The guard and rear bolster are made from solid brass. The finger groove handle is made from dyed and laminated rose wood for a colorful and comfortable grip. Blade includes saw teeth on the back. The Bowie knife got its start in the early 1800's. Jim Bowie was a knife wielding kind of guy and had a special design made for him by a knife-maker friend. He used his knife to kill three men who were hired to murder him in a rowdy three on one duel that would have made you pee your pants. According to the stories, Bowie was slashed, shot, and beaten, but managed to do his adversaries worse and killed all three. After this, the style of knife that Bowie used for his murderous defense was called the Bowie knife. Bowie was hardcore, making his name a fine choice for these large, tough, and versatile knifes.
