This is not a reproduction, this is an original work of art! A true collectors item. This original watercolor was created by master Apache artist Nossman Vigil. This intricate and detailed composition masterfully depicts a tepee on the edge of a lake in the white mountains of New Mexico. The detail and textures of this watercolor are incredible. This is one of the finest examples of Vigil's work that we've seen. The beautiful early morning sky is swept with high clouds that glow with the purples and peaches of the morning. The hills in the background seem to be warming up and contrast beautifully with the shaded purples in the foreground. This painting captures the beauty and peacefulness of the White mountains while at the same time providing a glimpse into the old Apache lifestyle. It comes in its original hand carved frame which is in great condition. This framed artwork is 24" by 27". Signed and dated by the artist Vigil, '61. This work is a real collector's item and will only increase in value over time. It's already over 46 years old and in excellent condition. This is your chance to own a true original Apache artwork by a well known and remarkable artist.
Nossman Vigil was born in 1926 on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation, New Mexico near the town of Dulce. The Vigils come from a long line of artists. Like their father, Nossman and his brother used a wide variety of mediums including watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic, and more to continually experiment with different styles and compositions. He is a member of SWIA (Southwest Assoc. for Indian Artists). He received an award for the Jicarilla Apache Seal design used during the 1987 Centennial Celebration.
We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
